Glue Spreader

We worked a fair amount in Hollywood on some projects. There's a statement people make out there when someone starts a business and produces a low quality business card design. They ask the person, "hey can I have a glue spreader?" instead of asking for the business card.

They call their business cards "glue spreaders" because that is all the card would be good for... spreading wood glue out on a large panel or board during construction. While we agree that a business card is just the right tool for that job (try it sometime), we know no one is using the cards we design to spread glue.

Do You Have a Card?

It's a great feeling when you get to that point in a conversation when a prospect asks you if you have a

business card

. It's really the same thing as saying "hey I think you are someone that could provide me with something I need, I would like to stay in touch." Make sure they are even more impressed when you hand it over with confidence.

How many times have you heard someone say "Oh, my cards are at the printers right now, if you have a pen, I can write down my number." That's the finest way to mess up a great prospect and what was a good first impression.

You've heard the statement "you never get a second chance to make a first impression." That impression is paramount and can often make the difference between that first call or no call.

Your

business card

should have all the pertinent information about you and your company, or your affiliation with the company.... but it should compel them, motivate them, and be the actuary when their top of mind awareness of your business kicks in. They will likely go searching for your card when they need what you have or do, but only if they remember the card.

Make them remember it. Do it right.
